In 2010 activists in the working group “social struggles” started the “Militant Investigation of the Neukölln Jobcenter”. It was based upon discussions about approaches and perspectives to organizing in the field of precarity including concepts of Community Organizing (developed in the 1940s in the USA) and Militant Investigation (emerging in the 1970s in Italy around autonomia operaia – mostly referred to as "Italian Autonomism").

Our hypothesis and hope was that in applying this combination of investigation and organizing we could discover social ruptures and points of resistance in our everyday lives while developing a perspective on politicization and organization. We wanted to expose conflicts, to understand their dynamic and critical moments, their language and antagonistic potential, and finally to broaden those conflicts and to actively participate in them.
Although we had numerous good experiences, we decided after three years to end the Militant Investigation, because we were confronted by antagonisms, to which we couldn’t find adequate answers. Currently we are discussing those antagonisms further, in order to use our findings and new awareness of specific difficulties for the benefit of our future projects.

The Militant Investigation was a result from our experiences from the participation in “Mayday” between 2006 and 2010. A central claim of the Mayday-concept was to make social struggles visible, and to link, organize and radicalize them, but this claim was not fulfilled in its four years existence.

At the present we are discussing opportunities for intervention that incorporate all of these experiences.
